Project Brief

A series of challenges were presented to FREDS, which we have been able to overcome thanks to our experienced team, flexible processes and the benefits of timber frame. All homes were required to meet the Design Quality Requirements for Registered Social Landlords, plus a steep site had to be factored into all designs. Each plot features exceptional sustainability and efficiency levels thanks to the timber frame construction which has high insulation properties. The homes are then clad in both brick and reconstituted ironstone cladding, showcasing the flexibility of finishing options when using FREDS Timberframe. Based in Gowerton, Swansea, this development sees the construction of 41 high quality affordable homes in collaboration with Jones Brothers (Henllan) with their partnership with Pobl & Coastal Housing. Freds was tasked with the building a mixture of bungalows, houses & flats using timber frame.

FREDS were tasked with the final phase of 104 houses in a 367 house development in Salford, Manchester. With the first two phases built using masonry, FREDS was chosen to assiting in building phase three using timber frame. Timber frame was chosen by DOMIS Construction to speed up the build process on the final phase. We used the crane erect method on site which eliminated working at height & assisted in the speed of build as requested by our client. Following several site visits, the FREDS team expertly designed and manufactured the homes in our facility. Once complete, the panels were transported to Salford for swift on-site assembly. The project’s quick turnaround showcases FREDS’ efficiency and capability to deliver exceptional results at pace through our off-site manufacturing process.
